It was July of 2019. At comic-con in San Diego, Marvel revealed the new entry in the MCU. That was Blade, announced to be played by Mahersala Ali. The crowd goes wild, clapping, yelling and cheering for this new installment of the Daywalker. Even though the task seemed quite difficult from the start, especially when Wesley Snipes has been established as Blade in our minds. The hype was there.
Now, more than six years have passed. The project has no director, no release date and no updates in general. The only update we got was from Snipes in Deadpool & Wolverine, saying confidently that “There will be only one Blade”. Was there something he knew?
Rumours say that the movie has been abandoned. Although there is no official statement from Marvel about the matter, the probability for Blade movie to be dead is pretty high. But don’t give up just yet. Maybe Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige have something else in the stove for us and for those who want to see vampires fighting.
I don’t know how many from you are familiar with the Midnight Sons. I sure am not. It’s a team of superheroes, but not your typical ones. Some of the members are (or have been) Moon Knight, Man-thing, Ghost Rider, Morbius, and of course Blade. So we are talking about a dark anti-hero team more or less. Well, the rumours say that a Midnight Sons movie is in the works and Blade will be introduced there.
I don’t know if all the above stand in solid ground or are just gone with the wind words. But if they are indeed true, I am more than hyped to see what this team has to offer. And of course, how Midnight Sons will fit with the rest of the MCU.
